Scheduling

It is possible to schedule items in the playout log for the future. This allows for future planning and to see what tracks will play ahead of time.

Typically, hour-long templates called clocks are created and then scheduled to individual hours. The playout log can then be scheduled and set in time. The playout log can be tweaked by the user for their needs.

A detailed video demonstrating the scheduling features in PlayIt Live can be found on the PlayIt Software YouTube channel:

How scheduling works

  • Clocks define the structure of each hour. They are templates that specify what types of content should play and in what order.
  • The Playout Pattern assigns clocks to hours of the week, creating a repeating weekly schedule.
  • Clock Schedule assigns clocks to the hours of the week using reusable weekly templates, and lets you apply one-off overrides to individual hours.
  • The Playout Log is the generated output from the scheduling engine. It shows the actual items that will play at each time.
  • Advert Scheduling lets you schedule advert blocks across the playout log.
  • Scheduled Events trigger actions at specific times, such as switching audio sources or running plugin commands.
