Playout Policies

Playout policies define a set of rules to ensure the correct tracks are played. Playout policies restrict artists and tracks from being repeated too often. They can be filtered by track group.

There are three types of playout policy:

Track Separation Playout Policy ensures that the same track, artist or title is not repeated for a period of time. For example, tracks in a track group of Songs can be prevented from repeating for at least 2 hours while tracks in a track group of Jingles are not repeated for only at least 10 minutes.

Daypart Separation Playout Policy ensures that a track is not repeated again in the same daypart (e.g. Breakfast) for a period of days. This means regular listeners to the Breakfast show will not hear the same song repeated during the times when they regularly listen. Daypart Separation Playout Policies require the Advanced Scheduling module.

Track Set Separation Playout Policy ensures that any track in the same set is not played again for a specified period of time. Track sets can be defined by track group, tag, or filter. This policy is useful for ensuring variety within specific categories of content. For example, you can ensure Local Artists tagged tracks are separated by at least 1 hour to spread local content throughout the day, or for rock formats, ensure Classic Rock filtered tracks are separated by at least 30 minutes from other classic rock content. Track Set Separation Playout Policies require the Advanced Scheduling module.
